Short Version: The process of transferring domains away from GoDaddy quicker: 1. Log in to your account at GoDaddy. 2. Go to My Products section, click Manage Domains. 3. Click the domain for which you want to retrieve the authorization code. 4. In the Authorization Code field, (found in the top half of the page, first column, last item), click the Send by Email hyperlink. 5. Click OK to actually send it. 6. Click OK again to get out of the authorization code sent screen. Make sure you also have already unlocked your domain. You need to unlock the domain and have the authorization code when you go and purchase a domain transfer from another registrar. - For more details, read below.
Detailed Version:
1. Make sure your domain is at least 90 days old GoDaddy won’t let you transfer a domain name you registered. (There are ICANN regulations).
2. Change your godaddy settings and get your auth code In the GoDaddy Domain Manager, find the domain you want to transfer and click it’s lock icon to unlock it (if it’s already unlocked, you can just click on the domain name to manage the domain). This is what I’m talking about (see screenshot below):

Now you should be in the domain’s detail screen:

Now once the domain has been Un-Locked, Then Click the text link -> Authorization Code: Send by Email:

1. Make sure that “Privacy” and “Domain Ownership Protection” are Off and that the domain is unlocked (if you did this, it will still show up as “Locked” as in the screenshot, but don’t worry, if you just unlocked it, then it’s unlocked).
2. Make sure your email address is correct in the administrative contact, because GoDaddy will be emailing your transfer authorization code (Email!?!?! What is this, 2008? @%&*$#@ GoDaddy!)
